Und als 1993 Harley-Davidson bei der „Buell Motorcycle Company“ einstieg, kamen die Dinge richtig ins Rollen. Die Lightning S1 stellte mit ihrem Streetfighter-Design die Weichen für den Look der heutigen Buell Modelle. Erik Buell wurde für seinen gänzlich unkonventionellen Ansatz damit geehrt, dass er 2002 in die AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame aufgenommen wurde. Und mit der XB Plattform erschuf er für das Modelljahr 2003 eine noch modernere Basis mit höchst innovativen technischen Lösungen – ganz so, wie man es von einer echten Buell erwartet. Über zwanzig Buell Modelle kamen bis heute auf den Markt, für deren Produktion in East Troy, Wisconsin, inzwischen 180 Mitarbeiter verantwortlich zeichnen. Im vergangenen Jahr noch rollte das 75.000ste Bike vom Band, jetzt gibt es schon eine sechsstellige Zahl an Buell Motorrädern in aller Herren Länder.
